Taiwan to Google: Blur Images of Structures on Taiping Island

Taiwan (the Republic of China) has asked Google to blur the images of structures on Taiping Island. “The disclosure of the structures, revealed when images were updated in July, comes amid rising tensions over Beijing’s territorial claims in the South China Sea, and at a sensitive time for the Spratly Islands, a major archipelago located in strategic shipping lanes.” Taiping Island is a big deal but not something you hear about much in United States news.
