Ubergizmo: New Text Scam Disguises Itself As A FedEx Tracking Notification

Ubergizmo: New Text Scam Disguises Itself As A FedEx Tracking Notification. “We buy a lot of things online these days and as such, getting text message notifications letting us know that our purchase has been shipped out is pretty common. However, it seems that there is a new text scam making its rounds that is disguising itself as a FedEx tracking notification, making users more inclined to click on it.”

  1. The crazy things is of course the tracking number is not valid (use Fed Ex website to check), when you click on the link it shows you what appears to be Amazon and Amazon usually delivers through USPS and not Fedex.

    • It was my understanding that 3rd party sellers don’t have to use USPS and can use whatever they like as long as they have a tracking number. Is that no longer the case? On the other hand, Amazon did ban FedEx Ground for Prime shipping last month. (I think it was last month.) Hmm…
