The event drew a who’s who of legendary hip hop artists including Grandmaster Flash, Slick Rick, Chuck D, Nas, LL Cool J, and Fat Joe. City and state officials joined the hip hop luminaries to plant shovels on the ground for the $80 million, 52,000-square-foot museum financed through city, state, and private monies.”

SmiNet, which is also used to store electronic reports with statistics on COVID-19 infections, was shut down on Thursday to investigate the attacks and was brought back online on Friday evening.”

UN AIDS: Republic of Moldova is pioneering high-tech community-led monitoring. “The Republic of Moldova has launched an online platform, ScorecardHIV, to measure progress in the country’s HIV response. The new tool includes indicators and data on epidemiology, funding and procurement, programmes, human rights and community-led services. It will allow governmental institutions, health programme managers, HIV service organizations, communities and other stakeholders to track the progress and assess the effectiveness of HIV programmes in the country. A data filtering system allows the customization of indicators in accordance with the user’s interests and needs.”

Almost 50 years ago, this state had a ‘right to reply’ law requiring newspapers to print rebuttal essays from candidates they did not endorse on their editorial pages. The Miami Herald refused to run a rebuttal submitted by a spurned legislative candidate. He sued, and the Supreme Court threw out the 1913 statute. The ruling means the press cannot be forced to publish something, any more than it can be forbidden to publish something.”

France24: Dangerously trending: driverless Tesla videos on social media. “It was a boozy joyride captured for TikTok with a soundtrack provided by Justin Bieber and with a Tesla serving as the “Designated Driver” for the night. In the short video, three young men are shown dancing in their seats, beers nearby, as the vehicle moves down the highway near other cars at 65 miles per hour (105 kilometers per hour), as shown on the speedometer. Nobody is behind the steering wheel. The video clip, which has been ‘liked’ by nearly two million people and shared 105,000 times, is just one of many similar ones on social media reviewed by AFP.”
