Delaware Online: Why Delaware’s new searchable crash database has years of wrong information. “Delaware announced earlier this year it had rolled out a website aimed at increasing access to the state’s crash statistics and reports — even claiming the portal would equip drivers with information to help them make safer decisions behind the wheel. But the portal, which was publicly launched in February after being signed into law 17 months prior, has discrepancies.”
State of Delaware: Delaware Division of the Arts Launches Refreshed Delaware Artist Roster on DelawareScene.com. “The Delaware Division of the Arts has announced the public launch of the highly anticipated Delaware Artist Roster, now hosted on the dynamic DelawareScene.com portal. This refreshed portal presents a diverse selection of talented artists from Delaware who are now available to exhibit, perform, or present programs throughout Delaware and the wider mid-Atlantic region.”
Cape Gazette: DHS releases African American history resource guide. “The Delaware Historical Society announced the release of a new tool to direct researchers, teachers and interested parties toward resources surrounding African American history in the state and region.”
State of Delaware: State Crash Data Now Available to Public Through Open Data Portal. “Those evaluating or planning the safety enhancement of potential crash sites or hazardous roadway conditions will find the dashboard useful as it is updated monthly and contains crashes that occurred since 2009 through six months ago. Through the portal, users can filter crash data and visualize the data in charts, graphs and maps.”
Delaware Public Media: State and community partners launch Delaware-centric equity database. “The United Way of Delaware and Delaware Racial Justice Collaborative join Delaware’s Division of Public Health to launch the Equity Counts Data Center. The data center is on DPH’s My Healthy Community Dashboard and looks to provide timely, quality data about inequities across the state. The data is based on determinants such as education, health, criminal justice, and wealth creation, and can be evaluated at a zip-code level.”
WBOC: ACLU of Delaware Launches Public Archive to Highlight Their Civil Impact on Delaware’s History. “The American Civil Liberties Union or ACLU of Delaware has been advocating for civil liberties and civil rights in Delaware since 1961. Earlier this month the organization launched a public archive to preserve records and highlight the ACLU of Delaware’s involvement in the civil rights history of Delaware.”
State of Delaware: DHSS Launches Site Comparing Health Care Costs for Select Episodes of Care, Services Based on Delaware Medical Claims “The Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) has launched a new website called CostAware to help Delawareans understand how their health care dollars are spent by comparing the variation of average costs for different episodes of care and medical services based on actual medical claims in Delaware.”
Delaware Historical Society: Delaware Historical Society Debuts Public Digital Collections. “Delaware Historical Society (DHS) announces the launch of their new digital collections platform. The nonprofit has begun digitizing collections to enhance access to DHS resources for local, regional, and national audiences. It offers access to primary source information to everyone from researchers, teachers and students, as well as to the general public.” The collections are in progress and more content will be added over time.
WGMD: 60th Anniversary of the Storm of ’62 – New Digital Archive Available. “This week is the 60th anniversary of the Ash Wednesday Storm of 1962. Delaware Public Archives has put together a treasure trove of previously unreleased photographs. The three-day nor’easter started on Tuesday, March 5, 1962, continued to slowly grind up the Atlantic coast on Wednesday, March 6, 1962, and moved away from Delaware on Thursday, March 7, 1962. By the time that the skies cleared and the winds calmed, the damage along Delaware’s Atlantic and Delaware Bay coasts was substantial with cost estimates of $50 million (roughly $465 million today.) The storm claimed seven lives in Delaware and a total of 40 lives along the East Coast.”
Delaware News: ‘Segregated Sands’: Delaware Beaches During Jim Crow. “The Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs’ Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes, Delaware has recently published ‘Segregated Sands: Delaware’s Segregated Beaches During the Jim Crow Era,’ an online exhibit that explores the history and stories of the Indigenous and African American experience at Delaware’s beaches during the segregation era.”
NPR: Connecticut, New Jersey and Delaware set timelines to end mask mandates for schools. “Connecticut is the latest state to set plans to lift its statewide mask mandate for schools, following earlier announcements Monday from New Jersey and Delaware. The loosening guidelines are signs that the three Northeastern states are changing how they manage the COVID-19 pandemic as cases from the omicron surge continue to subside.”
CBS Philly: Delaware Issues State Of Emergency As COVID Cases, Hospitalizations Hit Record Highs. “Delaware has issued a state of emergency to help alleviate the strain on crowded hospitals as COVID cases continue to surge. It takes effect Monday. One hundred National Guard troops will be deployed to assist health care workers.”
State of Delaware: Governor Carney to Issue State of Emergency to Fight COVID-19 Winter Surge. “Governor John Carney on Thursday announced a new State of Emergency declaration – effective Monday, January 3, 2022 – to combat the winter surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.”
Delaware: DPH Launches QR Tool Giving Delawareans Convenient Access to Their COVID-19 Vaccine Record. “The digital COVID-19 vaccination card now includes the QR code and is available through the DelVAX Public Portal, a site where those who were vaccinated in Delaware can access their immunization records. When the person accesses their COVID-19 record they will be able to download a PDF version of it, which resembles a vaccine card and includes the QR Code. The image can then be saved to a phone gallery, or printed on paper.”
