Washington Square News: NYU, Mayor’s Office Develop Interactive Efficiency-Tracking Map of City Buildings

Washington Square News: NYU, Mayor’s Office Develop Interactive Efficiency-Tracking Map of City Buildings. “An NYU team and the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability consolidated six years of data to make an interactive map that color codes buildings based on energy efficiency. NYU’s Marron Institute of Urban Management and the NYU Urban Intelligence Lab — led by a professor at the institute with the goal of using data to address city problems — helped create the tool. When they go on the site, a user is allowed to enter any address within the city and see a 3D model of the building and area, each building color-coded based on how energy efficient it is.”

Arizona State University: A leap of progress for energy-efficient intelligent computing. “The need for sustainable computing platforms has motivated Jae-sun Seo and Shimeng Yu, faculty members at Arizona State University and Georgia Tech, respectively, to explore emerging memory technologies that will enable parallel neural computing for artificial intelligence.”

US Department of Energy: NETL-Led Team Creates First-Ever International Database for Use in Preventing Natural Gas Infrastructure Failures

US Department of Energy: NETL-Led Team Creates First-Ever International Database for Use in Preventing Natural Gas Infrastructure Failures. “The first-ever database inventory of oil and natural gas infrastructure information from the top hydrocarbon-producing and consuming countries in the world is now available online. The database was born from a massive information acquisition, evaluation, and resource integration project led by the Office of Fossil Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). NETL has now released the database on the Laboratory’s Energy Data eXchange (EDX), which is an online collection of capabilities and resources that advances research and customizes energy-related needs.”

Builder: New Database Tracks Healthy, Efficient Building Products

Builder: New Database Tracks Healthy, Efficient Building Products. “Building Clean offers an easy-to-use interface that includes information about appliances, heating and air conditioning equipment, insulation, lighting, plumbing, roofing, sealants, and water filtration. Building Clean can be used to search for products with third-party health certifications and services that promote transparency about the chemicals contained in the products. The site can also be a resource for businesses looking to break into the energy-efficient product supply chain.”
