This promo works on one ride, up to $10, to black history museums, memorials, and cultural sites and black-owned businesses in participating cities around the US.” Alas, my city is not participating, but there’s a pretty good list of US cities (and a couple of Canadian) that are participating.
Virginia Tech: New study buckles down on child car seat use in ride-share vehicles . “With the goal of increasing child safety, researchers at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) and Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) have released a new study about child ridership and child safety seat use in ride-share vehicles. They have also published a corresponding website to help educate the public on various child restraint guidelines across the country.”

Eww. “An Uber and Lyft driver in St. Louis, Missouri has given around 700 rides since March 2018, and nearly all of them have been live-streamed on Twitch, without passenger consent. In a lengthy report, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch detailed the actions of Jason Gargac, a 32-year ride-hailing driver who took advantage of Missouri’s one-party consent laws to build up a Twitch following by live-streaming passengers — including children. At times, Gargac has inadvertently revealed the full names of his riders and what their homes and neighborhoods looked like on his channel, under the online handle ‘JustSmurf.'”
Lyft Blog: Alphabet’s CapitalG Leads $1 Billion Round in Lyft. “Today we’re happy to announce CapitalG — Alphabet’s growth investment fund — is leading a $1 billion financing round in Lyft. This brings Lyft’s post-money valuation to $11 billion. We’re also excited to work with CapitalG Partner David Lawee, who is joining Lyft’s Board.”
