The Namibian: Old laws still mistakenly used – Shivute. “OUTDATED laws which no longer apply in Namibia are still being referenced in cases because an official database of laws does not exist, Chief Justice Peter Shivute said at the Legal Assistance Centre’s launch of the Namlex update 2017 yesterday. The Namlex database is available for free on the LAC website. It is also available to institutions such as parliament.”
New Era (Namibia): Tweya cautions public servants on use of social media. “Minister of Information and Communication Technology Tjekero Tweya has urged public servants to use social media with extreme care to avoid creating the impression they are doing so on behalf of their employer. Tweya’s advice is contained in the new Social Media Use Policy and Implementation Plan for 2016/17 to 2019/20, tabled by him in the National Assembly on Wednesday.”
New Era (Namibia): ICT ministry to help public with social media use. “The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Tjekero Tweya, says the public will receive counselling on filtering good information from social media. While addressing the community of Okatana Constituency at a belated independence celebration at Otuwala village near Oshakati on Saturday, Tweya said information that comes with the use of information communication technology is vast and parts of it may be damaging, more especially to the youth.”
The country of Namibia is getting an digital archive. “The digital archive will be accessible online providing a rich resource reflecting the diversity of the cultural stories of Namibian people. The urgency of the project is driven by the aging of elders who hold the oral traditions of the indigenous peoples and the personal stories of individuals who participated in the former South West Africa’s (Namibia’s former name) struggle for freedom.”
