Reuters: NHL announces enhanced COVID-19 measures amid rise in cases. “The National Hockey League has announced enhanced COVID-19 measures which include daily testing and restrictions amid the emergence of the Omicron variant and a recent increase in positive cases among teams, it said on Saturday.”
NBC News: 35 NHL players test positive, Nationals suspend camp as sports try to return amid coronavirus surge. “The NHL has tested 396 players and 23 were positive, plus the league is aware of 12 other players who have separately tested positive since June 8, officials said. The league and players union on Sunday night agreed on protocols to start training camps and resume the season. Safety precautions include daily testing once games get under way for players, coaches and staff.”
AdWeek: Hockey Fans Can Lace Up a New Facebook Messenger Bot From the NHL. “The National Hockey League teamed up with chat engagement platform GameOn on a new Messenger bot that debuted just in time for the Stanley Cup Final. The NHL Chatbot gives hockey fans access to content including news updates, game previews, notifications, scoring alerts, schedules, standings and in-game highlights in both video and GIF form.”

From the About page: “Up until now, there hasn’t been a convenient way to look up the specific roles and histories of NHL coaching staffs. Behind the Benches hopes to change that. We want our site to be a trustworthy resource for fans and members of the media who want to know more about coaches and what they do. Eventually, we plan to expand our data into leagues outside of the NHL, including the AHL, NCAA D-1, the CWHL, and the NWHL.”
PRWeb: GearGeek.Com Launches The First Online NHL Equipment Database (PRESS RELEASE). “Hockey players and fans are now able to search the world’s first comprehensive database of equipment and sticks used by active NHL players. Good grief, MORE WITH THE TWITTER AND THE SPORTS! “Twitter is expanding its live sports plans, with weekly, livestreamed games from Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League. The livestreams will be available for free to out-of-market viewers, whether they’re logged into Twitter or not. Twitter is also announcing a new nightly sports highlights show called The Rally, produced by mobile video company 120 Sports.”
Yahoo is going to start livestreaming NHL games. “Beginning March 11, in collaboration with the NHL, we’ll live stream an NHL ‘Game of the Day’ in the U.S., up to four days a week, along with delivering in-game highlights for each game. This is in addition to the Wednesday and Sunday national NHL games currently promoted in the alliance with NBC Sports Group.”
