Variety: John Mellencamp to Donate Archives to Indiana University. “Singer-songwriter John Mellencamp, the proudest Hoosier in rock, plans to donate his archives to Indiana University, the institution announced Friday during a Mellencamp Symposium being held on campus.”
Deadline: Douglas Foundation Archive Adds 10,000 Personal Items From Anne And Kirk, Goes Online Fully Digitized For Public Access. “Now the Douglas Foundation, which was created by Kirk and Anne in 1964 when Michael was just 20, has just launched for the first time a high resolution on-line library of documents, photos and memorabilia digitized from Anne’s private archives of more than seventy years.”
Irish Times: Eir says thousands of customer emails irretrievably deleted in error. “Thousands of emails sent and received over the last two decades by eir customers with eircom.net addresses have been permanently deleted in error by the company, The Irish Times has learned. While the company declined to say precisely how many of the subscribers to its email service were affected by the system failure, it said four per cent of its user base have had all emails sent or received longer than 45 days ago deleted and these cannot be recovered.”
CNN Style: A photographer cataloged all 12,795 items in her house. This is what she found. “After going through a divorce and moving home for the 11th time, Barbara Iweins decided to take stock of her life — and everything in it. Going from room to room, she spent almost five years documenting every single object she owns, from loose Lego bricks and old keychains to remote controls, kitchen utensils and miscellaneous knick-knacks.”
Harvard News: Mira Nair comes full circle with donation of archive. “When Mira Nair ’79 was offered the chance to give her professional archive to Radcliffe’s Schlesinger Library, something clicked. ‘Harvard has changed my life,’ said the award-winning director on a recent Zoom call from New York. ‘There’s no question about it.’ For almost two years the director of ‘Monsoon Wedding,’ ‘The Namesake,’ and ‘Vanity Fair’ filled boxes with papers and other material related to her long career. She had fielded a request from Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences regarding her papers, but Radcliffe’s interest tugged at her heart.”
