SEO Roundtable: Confirmed: Google Drops Addition Links & Information For Info Command. “A week ago we reported that the info command changed and we were unsure if it was a bug or a change on purpose. Well, Google confirmed with me this week that it was intentional, they decided to drop the additional informational links under the first snippet that has been part of the info command for countless years.” Dammit.
Search Engine Roundtable: Google changes info command search operator, dropping useful links. “Google has confirmed with Search Engine Land that they have changed the way the info command, a search operator that gives you more details about a site, is displayed in search. Previously, the info operator would give searchers the snippet plus additional links to find more operators that show links to the site, the Google cache link, similar sites to that site and more.”
Google is saying its link: special search syntax is dead. “Yesterday, we covered that Google’s John Mueller said not to use the link operator. This comes a year or so after Google said the link operator is not dead yet. Well, now it is dead.” I just tried it and it works fine, so… ?
Uh-oh. Looks like Google’s goofing around with the link: operator. No details yet. “Last night, Bill Hartzer spotted that the link operator, i.e. [link:www.seroundtable.com] no longer returns results. Well, he is right, for some domains but for others, it does seem to work.”
