University of Kentucky: New searchable website will help people in recovery find housing. “The Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC), housed in the University of Kentucky College of Public Health, recently launched a new resource for people with substance use disorder (SUD)…People who visit the site can confidentially locate safe, affordable recovery housing openings based on their needs and personal situation. Users can narrow their search by location, rent amount, amenities, services, residence requirements, transportation options and more.”

The study, led by University of Queensland PhD student Brienna Rutherford from UQ’s National Centre for Youth Substance Use Research, examined how drug and alcohol use content was portrayed across social media.”

In a commentary now online in the American Journal of Psychiatry, the researchers liken the global coronavirus emergency to a ‘perfect storm,’ with dire consequences for ASUD prevention and treatment that may endure after the pandemic.”

AP: White House launches website aimed at addiction treatment. “[The site] modernizes an obscure directory of 13,000 licensed treatment providers maintained by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, adding user-friendly search criteria and tools. For instance, it will now allow users to search based on the type of treatment sought — such as inpatient, detox or telemedicine — by payment option and whether the treatment is medication-assisted.”
