University of Arkansas: Crowdfunding Pitches as Genre Writing. “Adam Pope, visiting assistant professor of English in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts & Sciences, has developed a technique for analyzing successful crowdfunding pitches using the same methods used for other professional writing genres. He explains his technique and methods of teaching it to writing students in his article, ‘Understanding the Writing Demands of Crowdfunding Campaigns with the Genre-Mapping Report,’ published in Business and Professional Communication Quarterly.”
Automation .com: Coordinate Metrology Society releases digital library of technical papers. “The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) announced the launch of its digital library of original technical papers delivered by metrology experts over the past twelve years at its annual conference — the Coordinate Metrology Society Conference (CMSC). The library is an online archival of over 100 technical papers and journals covering a range of industry topics including 3D measurement, inspection, assembly, best practices, new innovations and more.” I had to look up metrology. It’s the study of measurement.
TechCrunch: Google publishes its documentation style guide for developers. “Documentation is often an afterthought — especially for open-source projects. That can make it harder for newcomers to join a project, for example, and sometimes badly written documentation is worse than having no documentation at all. To help developers write better documentation, Google this week opened up its own developer-documentation style guide.”
