Samford Library News: Our NEW Digital Archive… is LIVE!. “Alongside collections containing hundreds of photographs of Alabama churches and religious life, the digital archive also includes the William E. Hull Sermons Collection, which is comprised of over 500 sermons, notes and presentations by Hull, a world-renowned theologian and former provost, university professor and research professor at Samford University.”
JSTOR: The Moral Majority: Collection of Primary Sources. “The Moral Majority collection, curated by Liberty University, contains materials generated during the ten years the organization was in existence. These include fundraising appeals, radio broadcast transcripts, issues of Moral Majority Report and the Liberty Report newsletter, theological statements by Elmer L. Towns (then Dean of Liberty Baptist Seminary), and diverse policy documents.”
University of Mississippi News: Professor Works to Make Theologian’s Historical Records Accessible. “University of Mississippi historian Jeffrey R. Watt has been working for 35 years to transcribe records kept by 16th century theologian John Calvin concerning the Consistory of Geneva. And thanks to two major grants to fund the painstaking work, he is closing in on the project’s completion.”
EurekAlert: New archive to document controversial writer and broadcaster Don Cupitt. “FUNDING has been awarded for a new online resource hub which will document the life and work of controversial theologian Don Cupitt. The grant, from the British Academy/Leverhulme Trust, will be used by a team of academics from the universities of Chichester and Chester to establish a virtual hub including access to archival material, blog posts, videos, and lecturers.”
Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion: Announcing the Wabash Center’s New Online Open Access Journal on Teaching. “You may have heard the announcements that the Wabash Center has launched a new open-access, online journal, The Wabash Center Journal on Teaching. The entire contents of the inaugural issue of the journal is now available for free download online. For twenty-two years the Wabash Center has been publishing Teaching Theology & Religion (TTR), owned by Wiley-Blackwell. Now we’ve moved our whole editorial team from TTR to this new publishing venture in order to make our efforts available digitally without subscription.” Wiley-Blackwell will continue to publish TTR with a new team.
Digital Library of Georgia: New Collections Document Atlanta’s Interdenominational Theological Center and Morehouse, Morris Brown, and Spelman Colleges.. “As part of the CLIR-funded, ‘Our Story’ project, Atlanta University Center, Spelman College, and the DLG are happy to announce additional content documenting the largest consortium of African American private institutions of higher education.” This blog post lists ELEVEN collections so I can’t summarize them here.
The Digital Library of Georgia is teaming up with the Columbia Theological Seminary and launched three new digital collections. “The three new digital collections that have just been made available from Columbia Theological Seminary include: Charles Colcock Jones papers, 1831-1856 This collection includes manuscript sermons, 1831-1856, preached by Charles Colcock Jones, Presbyterian minister and educator at First Presbyterian Church (Savannah, Ga.) and other Georgia locations…James Woodrow papers, 1808, 1836-1916 [bulk 1850-1867] This collection contains correspondence by and to Presbyterian minister, educator, and editor James Woodrow and his family and associates… John Newton papers, 1783-1797 This collection consists primarily of sermon notes and sermons (1783-1797) delivered by John Newton, Presbyterian minister and founder of the Beth-Salem Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Georgia.”
