Make Tech Easier: Zorin OS 15.1 Review. “Hailed as the last good version of Windows by many, Windows 7 is now officially retired. Zorin OS’s creators know this leaves a massive chunk of users with a choice between two equally uncomfortable solutions: upgrade to Windows 10 or jump ship to Linux. This is primarily the user group Zorin OS targets and, to Microsoft’s chagrin and as we’ll see, probably the better choice.”
BetaNews: Zorin OS 15.1 Linux distro is ready to replace Microsoft’s dying Windows 7 on your PC. “If you are ready to ditch the soon-to-be-unsupported Windows 7 for a more secure Linux-based operating system, you have plenty of great options. One of the best choices, however, is Zorin OS — a Linux distribution that specifically targets people switching from Windows. Today, the latest version of that operating system, Zorin OS 15.1, is released to the world.” If you’ve got someone who’s used to Windows, has Windows 7, and can’t/won’t upgrade to Windows 10, Zorin is great. If all they want to do is get on the Internet and do their stuff in the cloud, it’s really great.
BetaNews: Zorin OS 15 Lite Linux distro can rejuvenate your aging Windows PC. “Why buy new hardware if you don’t need it? A better operating system can often make the computer run fast again. Today, you can download an excellent such Linux-based operating system. Called ‘Zorin OS 15 Lite,’ it is not only lightweight, but thanks to the Xfce desktop environment and integrated Flatpak support, it should be quite familiar to those switching from Windows. In fact, the developers are intentionally targeting existing Windows 7 users, as Microsoft’s operating system will be unsupported beginning January 2020.” I migrated my husband to Zorin. Very easy learning curve if you’re at all familiar with Windows 7.
BetaNews: Zorin OS 15 Linux distro is ready to replace Microsoft Windows 10 on your PC. “Zorin OS is one of my favorite Linux-based operating systems to recommend to those switching from Windows. Why? Well, it is designed to look very much like traditional Windows. With Windows 7 support ending soon, Zorin OS should feel very familiar to those moving from Microsoft’s OS. Not to mention, it is stable, fast, beautiful, and relatively easy to use.” If you have a Windows user in your life who wants to switch to Linux, I can’t recommend Zorin enough. Its learning curve is gentle and its interface is familiar to Windows users.
BetaNews: Want to switch from Windows 10 to Linux? Download Zorin OS 12.2 with Microsoft Office support. “If you want to switch to Linux, there is no shortage of operating systems based on the kernel. With that said, many of them aren’t very user friendly. If you have lived your life using Windows, it is wise to choose a Linux distro that caters to your habits and expectations. One such operating system with a very inviting user interface is Zorin OS, and today, version 12.2 sees release. If you have been on the fence regarding Linux, now might be your time.” I used Zorin at work a lot because it was the most friendly distro for those used to Windows XP. I recommend it, with the disclaimer that this is not paid advertising/shilling and the Zorin people probably have no idea who I am.
A new version of Zorin Linux is now available. “Zorin OS developers on Tuesday released Version 12.1, offering Linux users a patchwork of software and hardware updates with some performance enhancements and bug fixes.”
Linux distro Zorin has reached version 12. While I personally use Linux Mint or Ubuntu, Zorin is my go-to distro when I’m repurposing old Windows machines. It feels a lot like Windows XP and is pretty easy for non-Linux people to wrap their heads around. I recommend it. (This is not an ad, Zorin doesn’t know me, I just dig the distro, etc etc)
